Good afternoon, friends, and welcome back — the good news? It’s a shorter-than-usual workweek, with Thursday off. Tonight is the World Cup final: Spain vs. Argentina; Yamal vs. Messi. Halftime show, Trump on the pitch — the whole shebang. Before we dive into that, however, we’ve got a packed issue for you this afternoon. Today, we’re taking a look at the rise of skills-based hiring, how hiring managers can adapt their job postings, and whether skills can overtake degrees in Om El Donia. We also tune in to a brand new podcast that’s only three episodes old and already setting a high bar. That and more.
First things first, the news…
THE BIG STORY ABROAD-
🌐 It’s another afternoon dominated by escalating US and Iran tensions. The US carried out its eighth day of strikes on Iran after an Iranian attack left two US service members killed and another one missing in Jordan. The US targeted Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in retaliation, as well as Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defence facilities. Authorities in Bahrain and Kuwait said they intercepted missiles, while Kuwait launched defenses against Iranian projectiles overnight. US President Donald Trump ordered military forces to launch new airstrikes to “degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz” and “swiftly punish” the IRGC for the Jordan attack.

The EnterpriseAM Egypt Forum is back — and this year, we’re giving the full day to the one question on every business leader’s mind: What does AI actually mean for your company, your people, and your own job?
Leaders in New York, London, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore are asking the same things, and nobody has built a playbook that works yet. We’re all figuring it out in real time — and for Egypt, the stakes are unusually high.
Egypt could leapfrog a generation on the back of this technology — or watch AI hollow out the industries and jobs we can’t afford to lose. The leaders who get literate early will be the ones who get to decide which road we take.
Every session on stage answers one question: “So, what do I actually do about it?”
Join us on 5 October in Cairo. Seats are limited, and attendance is by invitation only.
