Why attend a book club when you can listen to it?

The podcast world has brought that weekly book club to you. Joel Golby’s Book Club podcast is simple: Each week, host Joel Golby recommends a new book. That’s it. He spends the beginning of the 30 minute episode chit-chatting (as you would at a real-life book club) before discussing the book in detail.

He breaks down books that might seem a bit lofty or complex, sharing his thoughts in a way that is engaging and relatable. Even if you haven’t read the books he’s discussing, you’ll find yourself interested enough to consider picking them up.

In one episode, Golby breaks two of his own rules by reading a hardback that was published the same year: Miranda July’s All Fours follows the story of a narrator who plans to spend a lot of money on a life-changing road trip, but ends up blowing all the cash on renovating a motel room to look like a Parisian hotel suite. Golby’s review of the book is insightful as he shares his own personal connection to the story.
