Portugal face Spain, and USA take on Belgium tonight + Mexico, Brazil out

⚽ One day separates us from the match every Egyptian — and thousands more around the world — is waiting for: Egypt vs. Argentina. But before we get to that, we have two heavyweight clashes on the pitch tonight. Portugal and Spain face off at the Dallas Stadium as La Roja look for revenge after their Portuguese rivals beat them on penalties in the last UEFA Nations League final. Watch at 10pm (beIN Sports Max 1).

The US face a tough test: At 3am, the Americans take on Belgium in Seattle — a rematch of their 2014 round of 16 encounter, which Belgium took 2-1 in extra time. The US are chasing a quarterfinal berth for the first time since 2002, boosted by the lifting of top scorer Folarin Balogun’s suspension following an intervention by US President Donald Trump. Kick-off is at 3am tomorrow on beIN Sports Max 2.

Did Egypt just outlast Brazil in the World Cup? We sure did. Yesterday saw two matches that will be talked about for years. Norway stunned five-time champions Brazil 2-1 in New Jersey, with the game goalless through the first half, only for Haaland to score twice in the second. Haaland headed home in the 79th minute, then finished off with a second goal in the 90th — his sixth and seventh goals of the tournament. Neymar fought back, scoring once in stoppage time, but alas. The Brazilian star announced his retirement from international football following Brazil’s exit: “I tried; I tried. Now it’s over,” Neymar said.

England’s path was the more chaotic of the two. Bellingham scored twice in 98 seconds at the Azteca, starting the 36th minute to give England a 2-0 lead. Quiñones pulled one back before half-time, and then Jarell Quansah was shown a straight red card in the 54th minute, leaving England to defend with 10 men for over 40 minutes. Kane converted a penalty to restore the two-goal lead, Jiménez replied from the spot, and Jordan Pickford — facing 20 shots — held firm to see England through 3-2, handing Mexico their first-ever World Cup defeat at the Azteca. England are through.

Norway and England will now face off in the quarterfinals on Saturday in Miami.
