Your guide to udhiya certificates and donation windows this Eid El Adha

In today’s edition of The Enterprise Guide, we break down everything you need to know to navigate your donations this year

🐑 With Eid El Adha just a few days away, the traditional logistics of sourcing, overseeing, and handling your own livestock sacrifice can be overwhelming. The udhiya certificate (sak el udhiya) — first introduced and popularized by the Egyptian Food Bank in 2006 — has become the go-to alternative. The model takes the hassle out of the process, ensuring slaughter is carried out in strict accordance with Islamic principles, managing meat packaging, and overseeing distribution to underprivileged individuals and families across Egypt’s governorates and villages.

In today’s edition of The Enterprise Guide, we break down everything you need to know to navigate your donations this year. We’re listing the most reliable organizations where you can purchase an udhiya certificate to receive or donate, breaking down the different tiers and options available and highlighting alternative donation windows.

Where to purchase an udhiya certificate

#1- The Egyptian Food Bank: The Egyptian Food Bank (EFB) has several flexible options tailored to different budgets. EFB also offers six-month installment plans through Banque Misr, Attijariwafa Bank, AlexBank, and Emirates NBD.

  • Large imported udhiya certificate: At EGP 8.3k, this covers one-seventh of an imported buffalo calf from India, with the donor getting 8 kg;
  • Small imported udhiya certificate: At 7.3k, this is the bank’s most budget-friendly option — one-seventh of an imported buffalo calf from India, with 6 kg going to the donor.
  • Full local calf: This comes at EGP 83.3k and is equivalent to seven certificates, yielding 70 kg of meat;
