Zamalek loses the Confederation Cup title + AS FAR faces Sundowns in first leg of Caf Champions League final

Disappointment is in the air after Zamalek lost the African Confederation Cup final to Algeria’s USM Alger on penalties last night. The second leg’s normal time ended with a 1-0 advantage for Zamalek, courtesy of a goal scored by Palestinian forward Oday Dabbagh in the fifth minute of the first half. However, the early goal was not enough to seal the African Confederation Cup’s return to Zamalek’s arms.

ICYMI- Zamalek lost the first leg, which took place a week ago in Algiers, in dramatic fashion. In the final moments, Brazilian player Bezerra scored a goal that would have given the White Knights the upper hand in the return leg. However, it was disallowed moments later following a VAR intervention. In a stunning turn of events, the referee awarded a penalty against Zamalek, which Ahmed Khaldi of USM Alger converted to net the only goal of the match.

MEANWHILE- Manchester City claimed the FA Cup title yesterday for the eighth time in their history after defeating Chelsea 1-0. The FA Cup is the oldest football competition in the world and has been lifted by 45 different English clubs, led by Arsenal with 14 titles.
