Vodafone Egypt filed an official request to the national telecom regulator asking for more frequencies for its mobile network in 2018, the company’s head of government affairs Ayman Essam said, Al Borsa reports. This comes as the company plans to increase its investments in Egypt by 10% over the coming three years to meet rising demand in the market and to spend on building up infrastructure, Essam said. ICT Minister Yasser El Kady said yesterday that the government was willing to make new frequencies available to mobile network operators. El Kady added that they will have to pay for them in USD, according to the newspaper. Separately, Essam said that Vodafone Egypt is willing to resume talks with Telecom Egypt over domestic roaming after they were suspended some months back.
