The Electricity Ministry has decided to delay evaluating offers for companies looking to take part in connecting the power grids of Egypt and Saudi, ministry sourcestell Al Borsa. The tender process will be resumed in January, the sources added without explaining the reason behind the delay. It is unclear whether this has anything to do with the anti-corruption arrests taking place in Saudi. The ministry had come out stating earlier in the week that the project would resume according to schedule and was unaffected by the events there. Alstom, ABB, Siemens and State Grid Corporation of China have all submitted bids for the project.
