Supply Minister Ali El Moselhy confirmed that the government will begin purchasing wheat from local farmers at global market prices as of the beginning of the upcoming harvest season, which runs from mid-April until July, Reuters reports. The price at which wheat will be purchased will be announced by mid-March, according to the ministry. Agriculture Minister Abdel Moneim El Banna had said last month that wheat purchases would be pegged to global prices.
