The Electricity Ministry signed agreements with contractors to begin civil engineering works at the West Cairo and Walidiya power station projects, Al Masry Al Youmreported. Hassan Allam Construction and Consolidated Contractors Company will provide the engineering works for the West Cairo station and Orascom Construction will work on the Walidiya project in Assiut. Both stations are set to use natural gas as their primary input and fuel oil as back-up. The contract value for both projects is set at a total of EGP 3.21 bn plus an additional 10% extra held in case any spare parts of extra work are needed.
