She says when she first started her career she “had not received any training or advice on how to separate myself from my work, and that lack of preparation and awareness affected me for years to come.” Being too close to victims and survivors of human rights violations affected her mental well-being and effectiveness, but keeping a clear and wide distance from them also impacted her work.
