Oman’s Asyad inked multiple agreements covering autonomous freight, hydrogen-powered trucking, and shore power for vessels, according to a press release. The group will pilot driverless freight vehicles with Zelos Technology, work with OQ Alternative Energy to source more than 91 kg of low-carbon hydrogen annually for its Duqm fleet, and study shore-power deployment with Moon Rock Research and Development, starting at Asyad Drydock in Duqm.
The autonomous freight pilot will put the technology through live operating conditions. Asyad will test the vehicles at Sohar Port and Salalah Freezone, assessing performance and safety and whether the technology can eventually be deployed more widely.
