Senior Product Manager
Job Purpose
The Senior Product Manager exists to make sure Enterprise's product suite keeps getting better. Today, feature gaps get closed reactively, design and UX improvements happen whenever someone has the bandwidth, and no single calendar ties newsroom priorities, tech capacity, and audience growth together. This role owns that discipline: benchmarking the portfolio against peers, prioritizing what to fix or build next, and turning direction into shipped improvements at pace.
The test for everything this role ships is the same test every Enterprise story has to pass: does it make the reader's experience of our journalism better — easier to find, easier to use, easier to act on. This role is the company's product execution engine, driving the discipline needed to ensure new and existing products are delivered on time, commercially viable, and properly resourced — all without ever making editorial calls.
Responsibilities
Research and prioritization
- Conduct ongoing market and competitive research to benchmark Enterprise's product portfolio against peers and identify gaps and enhancement opportunities
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to strengthen existing products and surface new ones, turning direction into a validated pipeline
Design and execution
- Elevate design, presentation, and user experience across the product suite — email, web, and social
- Propose product and UX improvements to the Chief Audience and Technology Officer, and partner with their team on execution
Roadmap and delivery
- Build and maintain a 12-month product/feature release calendar, refreshed quarterly
- Lead delivery of each approved product or feature through to launch, working across tech, audience, and the newsroom
- Ensure every shipped improvement is on time, commercially viable, and properly resourced
Newsroom and stakeholder partnership
- Partner with the newsroom on how stories are placed, packaged, and presented on web and social — without influencing editorial coverage decisions
- Feed validated products to the commercial team, identifying competitive advantage and target market
- Build relationships across tech, audience, commercial, and editorial teams to drive delivery
Must have
- Proven experience in a product management role, ideally within media, publishing, or a digital content environment
- A track record of running competitive/market benchmarking that translates into a prioritized, validated product roadmap
- Experience building and maintaining release calendars and leading cross-functional delivery from concept to launch
- Comfort operating without direct reports — delivering through influence and partnership rather than authority
- Demonstrated ability to work alongside editorial teams while respecting a firm boundary around editorial independence
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Product strategy & prioritization — able to turn broad direction and research into a clear, validated pipeline of opportunities
- UX and design judgment — strong eye for user experience across email, web, and social, even without owning execution personally
- Cross-functional delivery — skilled at coordinating tech, audience, commercial, and editorial stakeholders toward a shared deadline
- Stakeholder management — builds trust quickly across senior leadership and specialist teams (editors, engineers, audience/data)
- Commercial awareness — understands how to position validated products for commercial viability and competitive advantage
- Communication & reporting — clear, consistent reporting on pipeline, roadmap, and delivery progress to leadership
- Judgment and boundaries — able to influence how stories are surfaced without ever crossing into editorial decision-making
