🍽️ Another day, another Italian restaurant. Cairo certainly isn’t lacking Italian eateries, but finding a spot that delivers an authentic Italian experience is easier said than done. Driven by curiosity, we headed to Panzo, a new Italian restaurant that opened its doors just a few months ago. Tucked along the B Cairo promenade in Zamalek, it boasts a scenic view right on the Nile.
First impressions: The restaurant features a well-arranged, comfortable outdoor seating area. The green tables blend beautifully with the surrounding greenery, creating a peaceful, relaxing vibe — especially in the evening. Our positive impression was further elevated by the warm and welcoming staff. They gladly helped us navigate the menu, sharing their personal favorites to guide our choices.
What we ordered: Following the team’s recommendations, we ordered the veggie pizza and the lemon chicken pasta, saving room for tiramisu for dessert. It turned out to be an excellent selection. We started with the pizza, which featured a light, airy crust with just the right amount of crunch. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, retaining both their texture and flavor, while the balanced sauce complemented the toppings without overpowering them.
The lemon chicken pasta was a standout dish. The pairing of tangy lemon and savory Parmesan created a refreshing, well-balanced sauce that gave the dish a distinctive personality. If you enjoy a bit of zest, this one is a must-try.
What we liked: While the mains were great, the tiramisu was the real showstopper. We simply couldn't pass up this classic Italian dessert, and it exceeded all expectations. With its perfect texture and rich flavor, it was easily one of the best renditions we’ve had in a long time — a pleasant surprise from a restaurant that doesn't specialize in desserts, making it the perfect finale to our meal.
The verdict: Panzo offers a delightful dining experience, blending good food with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly, prompt service. Our pizza arrived just 10 minutes after ordering, with the pasta following closely behind, both piping hot. The restaurant’s prime Nile-front location is a major plus, offering views perfect for summer nights. If you’re planning a visit, we recommend going midweek — the promenade gets quite crowded on weekends, which can take away from the tranquil vibe and the view.
WHERE TO FIND IT- Panzo is located on the B Cairo promenade in Zamalek. Delivery is also available through Talabat.
