3,000-year-old prosthesis found near Luxor could be oldest in human history: Swiss Egyptologists have examined a 3000-year-old prosthesis, a wooden big toe that was found at the graveyard hill of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna near Luxor, according to a University of Basel press release. Experts believe it could be one of the oldest prosthetic devices in human history. Researchers were able to show that the wooden toe was refitted several times to the foot of its owner, a wealthy priest's daughter. The prosthetic was transferred to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
