PSG face Aston Villa in tonight’s UEFA Super Cup

⚽ Following a few weeks of relative calm on the pitch — with nothing but friendlies taking up the calendar — we’ve finally got something to look forward to. The UEFA Super Cup is tonight, pitting Champions League victors Paris Saint-Germain against Europa League titleholders Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.

💡 A little background: The match — essentially a season opener for the European football calendar — is an annual one-off between the victors of both the Champions League and the Europa League. It’s a single game decided on penalties if both teams level in regular time, with no extra time. PSG are the reigning Super Cup holders, having come from 2-0 down to beat Tottenham on penalties last August. Aston Villa, meanwhile, are appearing in the fixture for the first time since 1982, when they beat Barcelona to claim the cup.

WHERE TO WATCH- The match will be broadcast live on beIN Sports 1 at 10pm.
