TENNIS-

🎾Sinner makes history. In an intense match spanning three hours, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner clinched his first-ever Wimbledon title, defeating two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. The match saw Sinner lose the first set 4-6 to the world No. 2, before recovering to dominate the following three sets with scores of 6-4, 6-4, and 6-4. Sinner became the first Italian to secure the Wimbledon men’s singles title.

Sinner avenged his defeat at the hands of Alcaraz in their last encounter at the French Open five weeks ago. With this victory, he adds to his points total, retains his world No. 1 ranking, and leaves with GBP 3 mn. To complete the Grand Slam quartet, Sinner now only needs to secure the Roland Garros title.

The last Grand Slam tournament of the year kicks off on 24 August and continues until 7 September. The eagerly-awaited 2025 US Open will be held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
