📺 She’ll do anything to leave her overcrowded home. 80 Bako is one of Ramadan 2025’s light watches, following Basmallah (Huda El Mufti), a young hairdresser whose parents passed away, leading to her and her sister moving into their cousin’s crowded apartment.
The wrench in the works: Basmallah — or Bosy, as they call her— is engaged to be married to Tikha (Khaled Mokhtar). Before the wedding can take place, Tikha needs to kick the current renters out of his apartment. The cost? EGP 80k. The episodes revolve around the couple working around the clock to raise that money — Bosy starts doing home visit salon appointments despite Tikha’s complete disapproval, getting away with it as he’s distracted trying to open up a private business with his friend.
We meet interesting characters along the way. Being set in a hair salon, the series welcomes many entertaining guest characters that add to the tapestry of the show, often comedically, like the woman who refuses to cut one specific nail because it reminds her of her late mother, or another asking for a full makeover because of her husband’s infidelity.
It’s a fun watch. El Mufti delivers an incredible performance as Bosy. But the character that we believe truly carried the show was the salon’s owner, Lola (Entsar). Her performance was impeccable and very accurate — making light of real situations much of the audience might be overly familiar with.
WHERE TO WATCH- You can find the series on Shahid, or catch the trailer on YouTube (runtime: 2:05).
