🥙 This may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of suhoor, but it could stick with you until next year. The Tap and Zooba have launched an unlikely collab this Ramadan, giving Zooba’s traditional Egyptian dishes with a Mexican spin that couldn’t have come sooner.

What to order: Our order consisted of the hawawshi nachos and taamiya tacos — the first is a bowl of nachos topped with a generous helping of spiced hawawshi meat and cheese for a picturesque and flavor-packed pull, and the second a more familiar taamiya tucked into a tortilla taco, covered in lettuce, shredded cheese, and cheddar sauce.

If you’re a traditionalist, you’ll be able to get regular suhoor items. We couldn’t resist getting our usual Zooba order of ful with pickled lemon and eggs with basterma. If you haven’t tried their olive labna dip, you’re missing out on what can be a year-round favorite. The dip comes with a side of crunchy toasted baladi bread for the perfect creamy, sour, savory bite.

Dessert doesn’t leave much room for creativity. But that doesn’t mean we didn’t appreciate the rice pudding we know and love to end the meal on a sweet note.

WHERE TO FIND IT- You can try this collaboration at The Tap East or The Tap West.
