Canada-based social enterprise Plastic Bank has collected 13 mn kilograms of plastic in Egypt over the past three years, equal to 500 mn plastic bottles, it said in a statement(pdf) last week. The organization has 28 collection centers in 11 of Egypt’s governorates and 2.1k members. Egypt accounts for 13% of the total amount of plastic collected by the company around the world, which has reached 100 mn kilograms (5 bn plastic bottles).

aiBank was named as the “fastest growing bank in the Arab region” by the World Union of Arab Bankers, the Arab Investment Bank (aiBank) said in a statement(pdf) on Sunday. The bank’s net income jumped 56% y-o-y to EGP 450 mn in 1H 2023 on the back of its expanded loan portfolio, new e-payment and depository products, and the growth of its branch network.
