Former US ambassador to Tunisia Daniel Rubinstein (bio) assumed his post yesterday as USCharge d’affaires in Egypt, according to the US embassy in Egypt’s website. Rubinstein replaces Nicole Shampaine (bio), who held the position since 2020. A fluent Arabic speaker, Rubenstein was the American ambassador to Tunisia from 2015 to 2019, and has served as the US’ Syria envoy, consul general in Jerusalem, and deputy chief of mission in Amman.
