GOOD NEWS- Unemployment falls for the second quarter in a row: Egypt’s unemployment rate fell to 8.1% in 1Q2019, down from 8.9% in 4Q2018and 10.6% in 1Q2018, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said yesterday. This is the second consecutive quarter the country’s unemployment rate has fallen, after it ticked up marginally to 10% in 3Q2018 from 9.9% in 2Q2018. There were 2.27 mn unemployed people at the end of the quarter, out of a 27.97 mn-strong labor force. Reuters also has the story in both their English and Arabic services.
