The legislation would permit authorities to negotiate settlements on structures that meet structural integrity requirements and that are not built on state-owned or agricultural land. Buildings on land covered by the Antiquities Protection Law are also ineligible for settlement. The law, which will sunset after three months, is expected to be passed alongside the Unified Building Code, as the two bills are closely intertwined. The current status of the Unified Building Code is unclear.
