Supreme Constitutional Court abolishes government’s power to disband NGOs: The Supreme Constitutional Court issued a ruling on Saturday deeming a law that allowed the Social Solidarity Ministry to dissolve NGOs as unconstitutional, Anadolu News Agency reported. The decision, which is final and cannot be appealed, also ruled that the administrative authority can only intervene in NGOs’ affairs after receiving a court ruling. The government is currently in the processof reviewing the contentious NGOs Act, which has widely been criticized for choking civil society.
