Sukoon bags UAE Insurer award + First Emirati woman astronaut will graduate from Nasa

The award recognizes Sukoon’s achievements, including its expansion and savings schemes

DFM-listed Sukoon Ins. received the UAE Insurer award at the MENA Ins. Review 2024 Awards, nodding to its performance throughout the year, including its expansion in Takaful ins. with the acquisition of the Arabian Scandinavian Ins. Company in May, according to a DFM disclosure (pdf). The award also acknowledged Sukoon’s new end of service and gratuity and workplace savings schemes.

First Emirati woman astronaut Nora Al Matrooshi is set to graduate from Nasa’s training program in March, as part of the Nasa astronaut class of 2023, The National reports, citing Nasa. Mechanical engineer Al Matrooshi will graduate alongside former Dubai Police helicopter pilot Mohammed Al Mulla from the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

The group will be eligible for space missions after moving their tassels left, including under Nasa’s Artemis program, which will see an Emirati astronaut — the first Arab astronaut — head to the moon sometime this decade, The National wrote.
