DP World puts 700 more trucks on the road + Jeddah’s new shipping line

DP World expands GCC road freight network

DP World is scaling its GCC land freight network as demand for overland logistics grows across the region, adding 700 more trucks to strengthen inland logistics links between ports, economic zones, and customers, according to Dubai Media Office. The additional fleet is expected to contribute up to 35k truck trips per month to both domestic and cross-border cargo movements along first-, middle-, and last-mile delivery operations.

IN CONTEXT- The investment comes as GCC logistics operators continue to expand road freight capacity following the disruptions to shipping routes linked to Hormuz. DP World has also been expanding corridors that connect ports with inland hubs, including fast customs routes linking the UAE’s east coast directly to Jebel Ali and a customs corridor from Sohar in Oman.

Jeddah plugs into Turkey

A new Turkey lane into Jeddah: Saudi Arabia’s Mawani has added Akkon Lines’ Jeddah Express Service to Jeddah Islamic Port, opening a new container link between the Saudi Red Sea gateway and four Turkish ports — Safiport-Izmit, Ambarli, Termport-Iszmir, and Gemlik Port, according to a post on LinkedIn. The service will run back to Jeddah with a capacity of up to 559 TEUs.

Jeddah’s been on a route-density run: Mawani has been adding new liner calls to Jeddah Islamic Port over the past few months, including Egypt’s Sokhna, Oman and Djibouti, the UAE, India, Somalia and Jordan, Poland and Belgium, Sri Lanka, and several Chinese and Southeast Asian ports.
