Polaris Parks set to build EGP 2.5 bn industrial zone in Sadat City

Good afternoon, friends. We’ve got another brisk issue for you today as the news cycle continues to cool down — though the weather is a different story.

THE BIG STORY TODAY

Industrial real estate developer Polaris Parks is set to build an EGP 2.5 bn industrial zone in Sadat City, General Manager Bassel Shoriah told EnterpriseAM. The General Authority for Industrial Development has allocated a 1.1 mn sqm site for the project, which will house mixed-use facilities, from engineering and food industries to warehousing and medical projects, Shoriah told us.

The zone is expected to draw some USD 1 bn in investments and will be developed over three years.

** We’ll have the full story in tomorrow’s edition of EnterpriseAM Egypt.

THE BIG STORY ABROAD

BTC broke past USD 120k today for the first time as investors wagered on favorable US crypto regulations and support from US President Donald Trump — who has taken to referring to himself as the “crypto president.” Lawmakers are set to debate a slate of crypto bills this week, including one that would set rules for stablecoins, further pushing investors to view crypto as a long-term and mainstream asset.

The digital token rose as high as USD 123.1k during trading, before settling to a USD 121.8k at the time of writing. BTC is up 30.0% YTD and a whole 87.8% over the last 12 months.

The broader crypto market is following suit, with Ether reaching a five-month high and tokens like Solana and XRP seeing gains, pushing the total market value of crypto assets to USD 3.8 tn. Crypto stocks and ETFs are also climbing, with bitcoin miners and exchanges seeing early trading bumps in the US and Hong Kong. (Reuters | Bloomberg)

☀️ TOMORROW’S WEATHER- The sunny streak continues in the capital with temperatures peaking at 36°C, before cooling down to 22°C at night. The North Coast is in for cooler weather, with a high of 28°C and a low of 25°C, according to our favorite weather app.

FOR YOUR COMMUTE

Teen Roblox developers are making mns off their games

The gaming platform Roblox is quickly becoming one of the most lucrative marketplaces in gaming — especially for teens who can code, according to Bloomberg. A growing number of young developers are creating hit games and selling them for mns on the platform, thanks to a booming secondary market for popular titles on the platform.

A bit of coding knowledge can go a long way: A 19-year-old developer built a soccer-anime game called Blue Lock: Rivals with a few co-creators in just three months. The game became a breakout hit with over 1 mn simultaneous players, and sold for over USD 3 mn just months later, according to the news source. Not too shabby for a side gig.

Seven of the fifteen highest-earning games on Roblox were bought from their original creators in June. The surge comes after a recent policy change that made transferring game ownership easier — essentially greenlighting a fast-growing secondary market for Roblox games.

The big buyers? Companies like Do Big and Voldex are leading the charge, snapping up popular titles and revamping them for even more growth. Voldex, which acquired Brookhaven RP and turned Ultimate Football into an official NFL experience, says Roblox’s payout model is attracting more ambitious creators, and even more money.

Why now? Roblox is on track to pay its creators up to USD 1 bn this year, and top creators are already earning up to USD 36 mn annually. As a result of the financial incentives, young developers are now selling games like startup founders offloading apps — often through low-key Discord transactions, sometimes before they’re old enough to legally sign contracts.

But it’s not all overnight success. Roblox’s game economy moves fast — one viral hit can get buried the next week by a new one. That’s why many developers sell off early, often selling for just a few months’ worth of revenue. The market rewards speed, popularity, and timing — a very “capitalist” recipe, as Voldex CEO Alex Singer puts it.

Chelsea reigns supreme + Sinner becomes first Italian Wimbledon champion

The end of one football season, and the start of another. A long and arduous season — lasting nearly 11 months — has finally come to an end. The new season kicks off in less than a month on 10 August with the Community Shield match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

The season came to a close yesterday with Chelsea being crowned Club World Cup champions over PSG. The “Pride of London” managed to overtake the Parisian champions, who had nearly swept everything in the past season.

Individual awards:

  • Best player of the tournament: Cole Palmer (Chelsea).
  • Best goalkeeper: Robert Sánchez (Chelsea).
  • Best young player: Désiré Doué (PSG).
  • Golden boot: Gonzalo García (Real Madrid – 4 goals).

TENNIS-

🎾Sinner makes history. In an intense match spanning three hours, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner clinched his first-ever Wimbledon title, defeating two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. The match saw Sinner lose the first set 4-6 to the world No. 2, before recovering to dominate the following three sets with scores of 6-4, 6-4, and 6-4. Sinner became the first Italian to secure the Wimbledon men’s singles title.

Sinner avenged his defeat at the hands of Alcaraz in their last encounter at the French Open five weeks ago. With this victory, he adds to his points total, retains his world No. 1 ranking, and leaves with GBP 3 mn. To complete the Grand Slam quartet, Sinner now only needs to secure the Roland Garros title.

The last Grand Slam tournament of the year kicks off on 24 August and continues until 7 September. The eagerly-awaited 2025 US Open will be held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
