THE BIG STORY TODAY

Yazaki signs land allocation agreement for Fayoum auto parts factory: Japanese auto parts maker Yazaki has signed a land allocation agreement for its planned USD 30 mn factory to manufacture wire harnesses for vehicles, according to a Local Development Ministry statement. THE BIG STORY ABROAD

Alleged Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow and the Crimea is leading the conversation in the international press, as the Kremlin blames Kyiv for the drone strike that they address as a terrorist attack. FOR YOUR COMMUTE

Musk follows through on Twitter rebranding + Evidence of an ancient tsunami discovered

Sayonara, Twitter bird: Elon Musk has rebranded Twitter’s logo, replacing its iconic blue bird with an “X” today. The social media platform’s CEO posted a photo earlier today with the X emblazoned on the company’s headquarters after writing yesterday that “soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” Although the blue bird is no longer visible on the Twitter platform, the company’s blog has yet to rebrand.

Anyone notice a pattern here? Musk has long had (and shown) an affinity for the letter X, the Associated Press and New York Times note. The b’naire created an entity called X Holdings to acquire Twitter, and “his rocket company is, naturally, SpaceX,” the AP noted. Musk is looking to push Twitter towards the same brand, as he hopes to create an “everything app” under the brand X.

Evidence of 36k-year-old tsunami discovered in Santorini: An eruption of the volcanic island of Thera — which today is known as Santorini — around 3,600 years ago in the Aegean Sea appears to have been the culprit behind the destruction of an ancient Minoan civilization, according to National Geographic. This cataclysmic event, whose level of destruction is likened to the denotation of mns of atomic bombs, caused a m edieval-century tsunami, archaeologists said as they discovered the impact of the tsunami on the coast of Turkey’s Çesme-Bağlararast.

No victims? Although the eruption is estimated to have killed tens of thousands of people, researchers have been unable to identify any victims from the event. There are several theories that potentially explain this gap, including that the victims’ remains may have been discovered in the past prior to the technology used to identify tsunamis, meaning the connection to the tsunami was not made. Another is that the survivors of the disaster were able to find the bodies and bury them as many escaped Thera’s full eruption on account of smaller eruptions that prompted the residents to leave the area for safety. Today, researchers were able to uncover that no less than four tsunamis had hit Çesme-Bağlararast as a result of the volcano as they continued to find evidence from Thera such as crumbling walls, ash, and a mix of pottery, bone, and oceanic marine shells on the land in Turkey.

The Secret Dinner Club: An invitation to dine and talk

📺 ON THE TUBE TONIGHT-
(all times CLT)

The Secret Dinner club, or Da’wa Khaasa, is all about delicious food, intimate conversations and exquisite locations. This social program invites its guests to a chic dinner table for a gastronomical affair while having revealing conversations. Chef Mirette Ali, (daughter of iconic Egyptian actress Sherine) is a professional cook, restaurateur, and the program’s host. She sets the menu items and passionately prepares the dinner with her team. Usually at the head of the table, Mirette leads the conversation, introducing the guests to each other and poses the questions as they dine. The venue is always a mystery for the guests as they do not know where they are going until they arrive, and they are usually iconic or unusual spots in the United Arab Emirates. Expect each episode to carry a specific theme, discuss a certain topic, and have a unique menu which creates a tantalizing and insightful experience. The guest list isn’t full of strangers — expect to find a selection of celebrities, influencers, fashion stylists and TV hosts from Egypt and the entire Middle East. The opening episode talks about love and what it means to each one of the guests in the episode. You can watch the Secret Dinner Club on Shahid.

It’s a quiet day in the football world today, ladies and gentlemen, with no matches to report.

🦐 EAT THIS TONIGHT-

Want to eat seafood but can’t head to the beach? Get your fix at Bahry. The seafood restaurant offers a variety of different types of seafood delicacies including a wide range of finger-licking crustaceans in different shapes, sizes, and flavors such as prawns, mussels, lobsters, and crabs — we particularly enjoyed the buttered butterfly prawns. We also suggest opting for freshly hand-picked fish that you can order either fried or grilled with oil and a drizzle of lemon. If you fancy a creamy sauce, give the tray of tender fish bedded on a delicious layer of potatoes with white sauce a go, but keep in mind this one takes time to prepare. Make sure you save space for their flavorful tajins — the shrimp tajin didn’t disappoint. The menu also has a variety of appetizers including seafood infused salads such as caviar salad. Bahry has two branches, one on Makram Ebeid street in Nasr City and the other one in the Fifth Settlement across from Waterway 2.

💡 UNDER THE LAMPLIGHT-

Most people have just over four thousand weeks to live.Four thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals provides insight and solutions to one of our major issues: There just isn’t enough time. Instead of rushing around trying to get everything done, this book teaches us a valu able lesson about time and how to properly manage it, avoiding the stress that always comes with that never-ending to-do list. Inspired by ancient philosophers, psychologists, and spiritual leaders, Oliver Burkeman wrote a book that is educational, entertaining, and amusing at the same time. Burkeman’s book focuses less on increasing productivity and “getting everything done” and more on the tools we need to construct a meaningful and fulfilling life.
