Prepare for the ups and downs of marriage with ‘Oqbal ‘Andoko

? The newlyweds-to-be are getting cold feet. ‘Oqbal Andoko follows Hamza (Hassan El Raddad) and Safa (Amy Samir Ghanem), a couple who are a week away from their wedding. Hamza is a practicing lawyer and Safa is an aspiring actress (who doesn’t seem to be doing so well).

Caught in the pre-wedding nerves, the couple tell each other anecdotes about other married couples as ways of highlighting their wants or fears in marriage. As you’d expect — if only from the actors involved — these are a series of comedic, theatrical skits with over-the-top characters.

We can’t decide how we feel about it. While the episodes are entertaining, we couldn’t get into it. There’s something about the exaggerated facial expressions and over-the-top silliness that makes the show almost grating to watch. But then again, it is a sit-com series that shouldn't be taken seriously. If you’re looking for a light-hearted, easy-to-watch show that doesn’t take itself seriously, this is a fine choice.
