A delegation of Israeli energy executives was reportedly in Cairo last week to hold discussions with companies looking to export natural gas from Israel, a source close to the matter tells Al Shorouk. A number of local companies are looking to buy Israeli gas to sell in the local market, they add. Last week, Bloomberg cited sources claiming that Oil Minister Tarek El Molla had displayed no objections to importing natural gas from Israel, provided that the issue over a USD 2 bn fine that a Swiss court has ordered Egyptian gas companies to pay to Israel’s electricity company is resolved.
