Quiet vacationing is the latest work trend. Hustle culture has encouraged millennials to take holidays and breaks clandestinely rather than ask for paid time off (PTO) to avoid appearing like they are slacking or being bludgeoned with productivity and deadline pressures, writes CNBC. Moving their mouse from time to time to seem active for their managers or scheduling a late email to appear to be working overtime are some of the tactics they use to appear productive.
Gen Z are a little different. This bunch is more gung-ho about their right to relax. Unlike millennials, who might be too shy to ask, Gen Zers are more vocal when it comes to shaming workplaces for making it difficult to take time off.
Workplaces need to make it okay to ask for PTO. Libby Rodney, chief strategy officer at The Harris Poll told CNBC “When people feel the need to sneak out for breaks, it’s a sign that their workplace doesn’t have a supportive PTO system or culture in place.” And this should begin with the people on top, she adds. Requesting PTO should be normalized by giving the employee support, mandating a specific amount of time off, taking time off as a boss, and being transparent in terms of how employees are expected to request it.
How to Rob a Bank is not an instructional video… it’s a true-crime documentary that chronicles Scott Scurlock’s infamous spree. Dubbed ‘Hollywood,’ this bank robber stole over USD 2 mn from Seattle banks between 1992 and 1996.
Pre-med student to criminal. We see Scurlock, disguised with a ball cap, wig, sunglasses, mustache, and facial putty, executing painstakingly planned heists that earned him his Hollywood nickname from the FBI. The disguise may have been ludicrous, but it was effective, making Scurlock one of the most prolific bank robbers in US history.
It blends animated storyboards, reenactments, and interviews. Ellen Glasser, head of the FBI task force, FBI agent Shawn Johnson, Seattle police detective Mike Magan, and several Seattle journalists were some of the key figures who spoke with Netflix. They describe a city awash with money from the booming Microsoft, Amazon, and Starbucks businesses — but rife with bank robberies.
Modern-day Robin Hood? Scurlock’s daring heists created a heroic narrative, as he never physically hurt anyone — in fact, he shared his loot with environmental groups and friends in need. This complex portrayal makes Scurlock a compelling anti-hero, someone who the public may have rooted for despite his criminal endeavors.
What side you’re on says plenty about your psyche. The documentary also explores the gray areas of human psychology and the complexities of a charismatic yet flawed individual. The absence of Scurlock’s voice in the film only deepens the mystery, making us ponder his true motivations and the lasting impact of his actions.
⚽ Euro 2024’s group stage wraps up tonight with Group E and F matches.
Tonight games:
Ukraine vs Belgium (Group E, 7pm)
Slovakia vs Romania (Group E, 7pm)
Georgia vs Portugal (Group F, 10 pm)
Czech Republic vs Turkey (Group F, 10pm)
All qualification tickets are still up for grabs in Group E as the four teams enter the third round with three points, with Romania leading with goal difference followed by Belgium, Slovakia, and Ukraine respectively.
But it is less complicated in Group F: Portugal, with six points in its pocket before tonight's game, already secured a place in the last 16, leaving Turkey (3 points), Czech Republic (one point), and Georgia (one point) fighting for a place in the next stage.
Who wants to be a third best? Tonight’s games will be closely watched by teams in other groups that hope to get a ticket to the round of 16 as a third-best team, including Hungary (Group A, three points), Croatia (Group B, two points), Slovenia (Group C, three points), and Netherlands (Group D, four points). Third-best qualification is still a possibility for all teams in Group E and F, except for Portugal, which may qualify in second place in its worst-case scenario.
Across the pond at Copa America, matchday 2 continues with four games taking place overnight:
Ecuador vs Jamaica (Group B, 1am)
Venezuela vs Mexico (Group B, 4am)
Happened last night: Argentina put a foot in the next stage with 6 points from the first two games after beating Chile 1-0 last night, while Canada jumped to second place after clinching the three points with a one-goal victory against Peru.

? EAT THIS TONIGHT-
A fast food home run at Hameed. The name might be ambiguous to what they might serve but Hameed is a fast food joint that is quickly gaining a reputation as a top-notch competitor to household fast food chains. Located in Sixthof October, New Cairo, and Madinaty Hameed offers a menu packed with familiar favorites and some unique twists, delivering a dining experience that rivals, and in many ways, surpasses the fast food giants.
Juicy burgers and crispy loaded fries. We wanted to try out something new and something old and true — so we went for the Truffle Mushroom burger, Chili Butter Glazed Chicken Burger, and Classic Chicken Burger.
The beef burger was on point. The patty was grilled, juicy and the truffle aioli was overflowing — literally — where you can actually taste the truffle. There were occasional bites where the meat spices overpowered but it never took away from the overall taste. As for the chili butter glazed chicken, we were hoping for an Asian twist. Even though it was spicy, it really didn’t stand out. Butter enthusiasts might be keen, but that’s about it.
The Classic Chicken burger is a must-have. The chicken’s breading is flavorful, and crunchy, while not drying out the chicken. Garnished with lettuce, mayo, and pickles we dare say we may have a contender for a certain chicken burger at a fast-food joint starting with the letter ‘M’.
We can’t stop eating their fries — they are fresh and crunchy in all the right places. If you fancy something more with your golden goodness, try the Loaded Fries, topped with melted cheese, crispy bacon bits, and a drizzle of ranch or spicy sauce. They are a perfect accompaniment to any meal and are a treat on their own.
PRO TIP- Hameed also offers an Egyptian-Western breakfast menu featuring items like falafel roll, eggs and pastrami burger, smashed burger scramble wrap, and bacon grilled cheese toast.
Just like any fast food joint, they deliver, but through their hotline on their page.

? UNDER THE LAMPLIGHT-
If you’re looking for a book that covers several themes then Mood Swings by Frankie Barnet is your pick. The narrative follows two young women trying to coexist with a society that is crumbling before their eyes.
Us vs animals? The odd plot feature is a random world-impacting event where animals are revolting against humans. This incident has left everyone terrified until a bn’aire develops a sound with the ability to kill all the animals. But is this what they want? This dilemma sparked a debate regarding whether the extermination was necessary or cruel.
Remember the protagonists? Jenlena, who writes poetry on Instagram, and Daphne, who writes ‘real’ poetry and has received awards for it, go about their lives: They make discoveries, set life goals, and even start a relationship with the inventive bn’aire at some point, all while the apocalypse continues to happen.
Are you lost? That’s the idea. There seems to be so much happening at the same time and that is what Barnet intended while writing Mood Swings. The New York Times describes it as a master class in maximalism where “the effect is that of being inundated by a whirlwind of pop-up ads that you find yourself enjoying” if this is a readers’ kind of thing.
The EGX30 rose 0.9% at today’s close on turnover of EGP 5.2 bn (17% above the 90-day average). Local investors were net buyers. The index is up 10.5% YTD.
