Egypt needs to reconcile with civil society, Ziad Bahaa El Din writes in his latest column for Al Shorouk. An accumulation of misunderstandings over the years have given non-profit organizations and NGOs a bad reputation in Egypt and led them to underperform where they could excel, according to Bahaa El Din. He argues that effort should be spent on changing that perception, both on the legal and social levels, making a case for the importance of NGOs and the value they could bring to the development and transformation of societies.
