Babbo’s Taverna : It’s a food spot. It’s a party spot. It’s a scenic spot. Located on the beach in Sidi Heneish Village, Babbo’s Taverna is a restaurant and bar that doubles as a fun party spot with great music — right on the beach. Babbo’s offers up a menu with plenty of breakfast and lunch / dinner options, with several standard classics (think ful, taameya, omelets, and waffles for breakfast), as well as a handful of slightly outside the box specialty items. We enjoyed their Turkish eggs, as well as the pancakes, which were fluffy and served with fresh fruit. The seafood-centric lunch and dinner menu is the real star, however: The octopus carpaccio was fresh and tasty, and the fish and chips were perfectly battered and fried, although it’s a relatively small portion at a relatively steep price point. The dessert menu at Babbo’s is limited — with a choice between fresh fruits, panna cotta, and ice cream — but the panna cotta hit the spot in rounding out an altogether satisfying dinner.
