Pro bono movie night? Count us in. Tonight, 28 May, the Cairo Opera House’s Cinema Club in Zamalek will be showing Egyptian film Snow White at no cost. The film — directed by Taghrid Abouelhassan, follows Iman — portrayed by Mariam Sherif — as she attempts to find love as a little person in Egypt. Sherif’s portrayal of Iman earned her the Yusr Best Actress Award at the latest edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, with the film garnering mass acclaim. The movie starts at 7pm, but we’d suggest getting a headstart to secure your seats.

We’re going on a cinematic trip in our favourite rocket ship — kind of. Egyptian cultural hub Qahrawya is organizing a “ Cosmos tour ” this Friday, 30 May. The tour — celebrating the golden age of Egyptian cinema — will include trips to iconic shooting locations, historic cinemas and studios, and screenings of a curated selection of Egyptian shorts. Dust off those boogie shoes of yours, because Disco Misr will be launching their new album at Sheikh Zayed’s Zed Park on Friday, 30 May. When hosting a birthday bash, it’s only logical to call up the Sharmoofers. On Friday, 30 May, the Boom Room will be celebrating its first anniversary with a bang. The night will feature a special performance by viral Egyptian band Sharmoofers — and if a certain little birdie is to be believed, a few surprise performances. It seems German DJ and Record Producer Adam Port couldn’t get enough of Egypt. Bringing the beats to the New Administrative Capital’s Green River on Friday, 30 May, Port will once more turn it up with his signature house beats, sprinkled with a musical dash of jazz and soul. World-famous ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is bringing his puppets to Egypt this June. Performing live in Cairo for the very first time, the American comedian, actor, and host of the Jeff Dunham show will be playing puppet-master as he orchestrates a comedic showcase under the theme of Artificial Intelligence, stringing along his comical cast of characters at the Drama Hall in the New Capital’s Arts and Culture city on Thursday, 26 June.
