The football world is on the edge of its seat as Europe gears up for an intense night of matches at 10pm, with 18 simultaneous kickoffs marking the grand finale of the Champions League’s group phase.

A game-changing format is shaking up UEFA: The competition is operating on a whole newsystem this year, with the group stage seeing 36 teams battling it out without first being drawn into groups. Instead, each team plays eight matches — four at home, four away — randomly sorted by the draw.

The top eight teams at the end of this round punch their ticket straight to the round of 16. Meanwhile, those finishing between 9th and 24th place have to fight through a two-legged playoff for the remaining spots. The bottom eight? They pack their bags and wave goodbye to Europe.

To keep things fair, all of the final group stage games kick off at the same time tonight. BeIN Sports holds the exclusive broadcasting rights, with live updates on all 18 matches streamed in real time on its open news channel.

The current top eight in the standings are Liverpool (21 points), Barcelona (18 points), Arsenal (16 points), Inter Milan (16 points), Atletico Madrid (15 points), Milan (15 points), Atalanta (14 points), and Bayer Leverkusen (13 points). It’s still all to play for — the gap between 8th (the last direct qualifier) and 24th (the last playoff spot) is just three points.
