🍴 If you’re craving authentic Thai flavors, you’re in for a treat at Tom Yam. This spot in Heliopolis pays homage to Thailand’s vibrant cuisine, offering a menu that showcases the bold, balanced flavors that define the country’s culinary tradition — from the zesty kick of lemongrass to the comforting heat of chili peppers.
We kicked off our meal with the Tom Yum soup. Even though Cairo’s sweltering summer heat might make you second-guess ordering a soup, the Tom Yum here is worth every spoonful. We had it with shrimp, and it was the perfect blend of sour, spicy, and savory, with a subtle tang of lemongrass and a spicy kick. It wasn’t overpowering — just enough to warm our bellies and leave us reaching for more.
If you’re a fan of fried goodness, you’ll love the fried shrimp cakes. These little guys were a crispy delight, with a perfect golden crust and a tender, flavorful filling.
The dim sum shrimp came next, and they were just as impressive. The dumplings were plump and generously filled with tender shrimp, wrapped in a delicate, slightly chewy dough. The dipping sauce provided a great balance, adding a hint of saltiness that enhanced the natural sweetness of the shrimp.
But the star of the evening was the Pad Thai. This classic dish was executed flawlessly – the noodles were perfectly chewy, and the shrimp were cooked just right. Tossed in a umami-rich sauce with a hint of sweetness, it was everything you’d want in a Pad Thai.
We were just scratching the surface of the menu; Tom Yam also offers a variety of sushi, stir-fries, fried rice, and more Thai specialties that are worth exploring.
They do deliver, but only to New Cairo and areas around Heliopolis. You can call their number on their Instagram page to order or reach them through Talabat.
