? Looking for a quick bite that takes you back to the good old days? Qatma serves up a selection of Egyptian sandwiches that will hit the spot. From grilled kofta to tender chicken shawarma, their menu keeps it simple but delivers on flavor.
We started with the Grilled Kofta Sandwich Wrap, and it was everything we expected. Ground meat seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper gave it a nostalgic taste, reminiscent of the kofta sandwiches you’d grab at a local sporting club. The flavor is familiar and comforting, like the Egyptian version of a Big Mac — unfussy, but packed with rich, savory goodness.
We tried all their sandwich variations: We started with the Shish Tawook Sandwich Wrap version. Grilled chicken breast, marinated and paired with a garlic sauce, stuffed in fresh, soft bread. It’s a mix of Lebanese and Egyptian flavors, offering a twist on the classic chicken shawarma. The tender chicken, combined with the smooth garlic sauce, made for a delightful bite that we kept coming back to.
Next up, was the bestseller Hawawshi 5 Lokm, consisting of five mini sandwiches stuffed with minced meat, onions, and spices, and served with a tahina pack on the side. These bite-sized wonders are dangerously addictive, each one packed with savory flavors. The size can vary a bit, however. Sometimes they’re tiny, and sometimes they’re nearly palm-sized — but they’re always satisfying, so opt for two orders.
Finally, we went for the Caizer sandwiches, Egypt’s take on shawarma. The Meat Caizer is filled to the brim with juicy Egyptian meat shawarma, tahina sauce, tomatoes, onions, greens, and a hit of mint. The meat is tender, juicy, and flavorful, and the combo of ingredients hits just the right notes.
The Chicken Caizer doesn’t fall short either, with juicy chicken shawarma, garlic sauce, and pickles adding that tangy kick. These smaller sandwiches are perfect for a quick snack, but you’ll probably want to order a few if you’re only going for the Caizers.
Everything at Qatma is a treat (literally). One sandwich is not enough, and what’s great is that each sandwich brings something familiar yet fresh to the table.
