#2- Hisham Kassem jailed: Prominent newspaper publisher and political activist Hisham Kassem was sentenced to six months in jail yesterday on charges of slander and verbal assault. Kassem, the former publisher of Cairo Times and Al Masry Al Youm, will serve three months for allegedly insulting a former minister and three months for verbally assaulting policemen after his arrest. Kassem earlier this year founded the opposition coalition El Tayar El Hurr to participate in the upcoming presidential election process.
