Sayonara, Twitter bird: Elon Musk has rebranded Twitter’s logo, replacing its iconic blue bird with an “X” today. The social media platform’s CEO posted a photo earlier today with the X emblazoned on the company’s headquarters after writing yesterday that “soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” Although the blue bird is no longer visible on the Twitter platform, the company’s blog has yet to rebrand.
Anyone notice a pattern here? Musk has long had (and shown) an affinity for the letter X, the Associated Press and New York Times note. The b’naire created an entity called X Holdings to acquire Twitter, and “his rocket company is, naturally, SpaceX,” the AP noted. Musk is looking to push Twitter towards the same brand, as he hopes to create an “everything app” under the brand X.
Evidence of 36k-year-old tsunami discovered in Santorini: An eruption of the volcanic island of Thera — which today is known as Santorini — around 3,600 years ago in the Aegean Sea appears to have been the culprit behind the destruction of an ancient Minoan civilization, according to National Geographic. This cataclysmic event, whose level of destruction is likened to the denotation of mns of atomic bombs, caused a m edieval-century tsunami, archaeologists said as they discovered the impact of the tsunami on the coast of Turkey’s Çesme-Bağlararast.
No victims? Although the eruption is estimated to have killed tens of thousands of people, researchers have been unable to identify any victims from the event. There are several theories that potentially explain this gap, including that the victims’ remains may have been discovered in the past prior to the technology used to identify tsunamis, meaning the connection to the tsunami was not made. Another is that the survivors of the disaster were able to find the bodies and bury them as many escaped Thera’s full eruption on account of smaller eruptions that prompted the residents to leave the area for safety. Today, researchers were able to uncover that no less than four tsunamis had hit Çesme-Bağlararast as a result of the volcano as they continued to find evidence from Thera such as crumbling walls, ash, and a mix of pottery, bone, and oceanic marine shells on the land in Turkey.
