EU could provide more support to Egypt to curb migration

Illegal immigration tops discussions between Shoukry and EU VP Schinas: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed illegal immigration and European investment in Egypt with EU Vice-President Margaritis Schinas during talks in Cairo yesterday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The EU is willing to increase support to Egypt to prevent illegal immigration across the Mediterranean, Schinas said. The EU last year handed Egypt’s coastguard a EUR 80 mn grant to clamp down on boats leaving its shores.

ALSO-Schinas met with Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata and Pope Tawadros II yesterday.
