The British University in Egypt (BUE) has appointed Professor Mohamed Loutfi (bio) as its new president and vice-chancellor, with his term beginning next September, according to a press release (pdf). Loutfi has more than 30 years of experience in higher education under his belt and is currently the special envoy to Coventry University’s vice-chancellor. He was the first president of Coventry Uni’s ‘Knowledge hub’ campus in Egypt and has also held leadership at other institutions. “I feel privileged to have been appointed as the incoming president and vice-chancellor,” Loutfi said. “The higher education sector is living a challenging time worldwide, trying to meet the ever-changing societal needs combined with the continuing pandemic, but I am optimistic.”
