A statue by Mahmoud Mokhtar, dubbed Ibn El Balad (Son of the Nation), was sold for GBP 189k (approx. EGP 4 mn) by UK auction house Sotheby's in its "20th Century Art / Middle East" auction, compared to its estimated value of GBP 90k-1110k, according to theauction results. The bronze property was owned by the heirs of the “illustrious collector and renaissance man,” Hafez Afifi Pasha.
