“Lift Like a Girl” lands three prizes at Cairo Film Fest: Egyptian filmmaker Mayye Zayed’s documentary, Lift Like a Girl, earned the prestigious Bronze Pyramid Award at the Cairo Film Festival last week as well as the USD 15k-worth Youssef Cherif Rizkallah audience award and the USD 10k-worth Isis Award for highlighting women’s issues in Egypt, according to Ahram Online. Zayed said the prize money will be used to develop the weightlifting ring shown in the movie. The documentary premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and has since won an award at the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film.
