This follows a recent statement from a senior Turkish official that Egypt’s warning that it could intervene directly in Libya would not dissuade Turkey from supporting preparations to recapture the coastal city of Sirte. Turkey supports Libya’s internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA), which has recently reversed gains made by the Libyan National Army (LNA), led by General Khalifa Haftar and supported by Egypt, Russia and the UAE.
