GERD talks are also getting major play in the foreign press: The Financial Times is running an ominously-titled opinion piece by David Pilling about preventing war between Egypt and Ethiopia. Fortunately, he concludes that armed conflict between the two powers is by no means inevitable. “With skilful diplomacy and a forward-looking agreement, the Nile need not be a source of conflict, but rather a force for co-operation,” he writes.
