Egyptian Navy celebrates 51st anniversary of sinking Eilat

Egypt celebrated Navy Day by observing the 51st anniversary of the sinking the Israeli destroyer Eilat, according to Egypt Today. Eilat was sunk by three Egyptian missile boats off Port Said waters on 21 October 1967. The sinking, thought to be the first vessel sunk by a missile boat during wartime, prompted global interest in the development of missile boats.
