The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) upped the fees it charges investors and manufacturers for issuing licenses and other services. Depending on the size of the project, fees for amending industrial registries jumped to EGP 3,800-37,770, while fees for issuing temporary licenses was increased to EGP 4,700-23,450. Investors’ associations sent a formal complaint to the Ismail Cabinet objecting to the new fees, which they said came as a surprise and should have been put up for discussion first. The fees are also too high and would add significantly to the prices of final products, according to House Rep. Mohamed El Morshedy, who heads the Obour Investors Association.
