Humans have dug as far as 40,603 feet into the earth, but that’s not even halfway through to the end of the first layer of the earth’s crust, according to Tech Insider (watch, runtime: 2:54). We need to dig down 60,000 more feet to get there and another 21 mn feet to get to the center of the earth.
