Morocco’s Tanger Med Port is among the top 20 container ports for 2023, ranking nineteenth worldwide, Le Monde reports, citing a yearly ranking by French maritime analyst firm Alphaliner. Tanger Med saw a 13.4% y-o-y growth in volumes in 2023, the outlet said, with the port handling some 8.6 mn TEUs throughout 2023, Morocco World News adds citing Tanger Med Port Authority. Tanger Med Port has benefitted from reroutes on the back of Red Sea disruptions, but is struggling with congestion.
King Abdul Aziz Port has been named Port of the Year at the ShipTek Awards’ 19th edition, according to a press release. The port received the award for making upgrades to its infrastructure, technologies, and port’s capabilities. These upgrades include increasing the port’s handling capacity to 7.5 mn TEUs, integrating technological advancements by partnering with STC, and investing SAR 1.2 bn in four integrated logistics parks.
