AVIATION-

#1- QNB + DHL to implement SAF in shipping operations: Qatar National Bank (QNB) signed an agreement with DHL to incorporate sustainable aviation fuel in its shipping operations, according to a statement. QNB has pledged under the GoGreen Plus contract to reduce emissions by 50% for all air express shipments. It will also receive the SGS Certification that entails the use of electric vehicles during service provision and the use of recycled materials for packaging.

#2- Aircraft maintenance: Dubai-based Global Jet Technic secured agreements with Indian airlines InterGlobe Aviation Services, Air India, and Akasa Air for aircraft maintenance services in the UAE, Wam reports.

CUSTOMS-

Dubai Customs has launched a specialized vocational program to train Emirati youth in the logistics sector, according to a press release. The program will equip participants with skills to serve Dubai’s logistics sector by providing them with hands-on training at several customs facilities. The initiative is in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and Dubai Social Agenda 33, which look to bolster Emirati employment in the private sector and foster a skilled workforce.

EQUIPMENT-

Drydocks World boosts its heavy-lifting capacity: DP World’s offshore arm Drydocks World has inked a contract with China-based Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd for a new generation 5k tonne capacity floating sheerleg crane to boost the firm’s heavy-lighting capabilities, according to a statement. The crane can lift heavy loads up to 120 m above the water and is fitted with a 600-tonne fly jib with an extendable reach of up to 180 m.

What we know: Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries will oversee the design, construction, testing, and commissioning phase over a 24-month period, with delivery slated for 2Q 2026. The crane will support the firm’s large-scale projects, including the construction of offshore platforms, bridges, and marine developments. It is set to reduce the need for support vessels by accommodating for up to 50 personnel offshore.
