New ro-ro shipping line launches between Kuwait’s Shuwaikh port + Khalifa port in UAE: A new sea shipping line dedicated for the transport of vehicles and ro-ro goods has been launched between Kuwait’s Shuwaikh port and the UAE’s Khalifa port, according to a Kuwait Ports Authority statement. The first ship — named SSF Ania — docked at the Kuwaiti port yesterday. The shipping line, which reduces transport time from five days via trucks to just one day, comes in a bid to boost trade between the countries. The service began on a weekly basis, and will increase upon higher volume of shipments, according to the statement. The direct shipping line was first announced back in March.

King Abdul Aziz port added to MSC’s India-East Med servic e: MSC has added Dammam’s King Abdul Aziz Port to its India East Med (IMED) shipping line, linking it to more ports in India and the Eastern Mediterranean, according to a Mawani statement. The shipping line operates on rotation between Qatar’s Hamad Port, the UAE’s Jebel Ali and 13 more ports in Turkey, India and Africa, according to the statement.

AVIATION-

Kuwait’s Agility subsidiary Menzies Aviation has secured seven ground han dling licenses in Spain,according to a disclosure (pdf) on Boursa Kuwait. Spain’ Airport Authority handed Menzies licenses to provide ramp and passenger services at seven airports: Barcelona, Mallorca, Palma Malaga, Tenerife Sur and Tenerife Norte, Alicante and Gran Canaria. The seven-year licenses will see Menzies begin to offer its services in early 2024, and could bring in up to USD 1 bn in revenues.

Background: The company has an aggressive expansion strategy to increase its current 250 locations to 300 by the end of 2024 or early 2025. It recently renewed its ground and air cargo handling services with Jazeera Airways. It also established a ground services company in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport back, as well as acquiring a majority stake in Cargo Handling Services at Bulgaria’s Sofia International Airport.
